Deep in color, the 2020 La Vieille Cure opens with oak, chocolate-coated black cherries, licorice, spice, and smoke. Silky, it coats the palate with crushed rocks, dark red fruits, and layers of chocolate. The nose features blackcurrants, dark cherries, cocoa, and a hint of cigar box. Full-bodied with dense yet creamy tannins, it will integrate more over time. This outstanding Fronsac is drinkable now. Deep purple-black, it bursts with plum preserves, blueberry pie, and baker's chocolate, with star anise, cloves, and eucalyptus. The palate is rich with black and blue fruits, firm tannins, and a fresh, long, opulent finish.
